Making the Most of a Busy Lifestyle
When it comes to health and wellness, the most recurring excuse I hear from most of my friends, family members, and clients is that they DO NOT HAVE THE TIME. We have 24 hours in a day; 8 of which we spend at work, another 6-8 are spent sleeping (depending on your sleep habits) and maybe you have allocated time to school and just life in general. When do we have time to worry about eating healthy or taking the time for ourselves?
These are all things I said to myself for more than 8 years; as a result, in that time frame, I became disgusted with myself. I gained so much weight, I ate junk because it was easy. I slept when I could because with work, school, and family, who had time for anything else. You’re not alone; those were all things I said too . . . at least until I looked in the mirror on my 35th birthday and cried. How on earth could I let myself go so much? My hair was thinning, my skin was dry and flakey, I was more than 40 lbs overweight; I was so self-conscious, I thought my husband was disgusted to even look at me. It was at that point I decided to “fix myself”. But how could I do this with so little time and so little energy?
I sat down the following day and decided to map out what an entire week looked like for me. Turns out, I had more free time than I thought. The problem wasn’t the lack of time I had in a day, the problem was how I was maximizing and not wasting the time that I had.
